It is the hope and expectation of MBA that girls will learn and enjoy the game of softball as well as enjoying the social aspects of being a team member. This is a recreational league, and fun and sportsmanship must take precedence over a focus on winning. To support this effort, all players, coaches, and parents are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times. Players are also expected to attend and fully participate in all practices and games. A player should make MBA softball her first priority over and above any additional leagues she may choose to participate in.
• For girls in 3rd & 5th grades we will allow, by that family’s choice prior to the rec team selection process, girls who qualify because of their age/birthdate to play in the league “below” if they will be eligible for selection (not a guaranteed selection) for that league’s All-Stars/post season play team. The understanding is the rec league you play in is the only MB All Star team you are eligible to be selected for. For example, the younger 3rd and 5th graders can choose to play down in the 1st–3rd grade league (8U) or the 3rd–5th grade league (10U) if their birthdays fall after Jan. 1, 2008 and Jan. 1, 2006 respectively. ONLY THOSE GIRLS WHO ARE AGE ELIGIBLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY DOWN, SHOULD THEY CHOOSE TO DO SO.
MBA softball teams will try and have no more than two events (practices & games) per week.

We fully understand that each volunteer provides his/ her time, effort and energy toward our children and we truly appreciate and value each of them. In order to make sure that our children are protected and safe, background checks are a necessity. As the MBA continues to grow and provide more opportunities, this is truly the most confidential and cost effective way to make sure we are providing as safe of an environment as possible for our youth.
If your background check meets the requirements then you will be cleared to volunteer twelve months from the day you complete the check. A new check is required each year and will expire one year from the date of your original check. However, please understand that being “cleared” by the background check does NOT guarantee you of becoming a Board Member or being selected for a coaching position. Not completing or not being cleared guarantees you will NOT be considered for a coaching or Board position with MBA.
